Alright, it is again tutorial time. This one, I can proudly say, is all mine! Well... most of it. The beginning part was inspired by another tutorial I found out there. I can't remember where I found it or what the end result of it was, but I know that the same beginning few steps works out perfectly for helping me achieve this awesome little filter project. I have made a really cool looking background with it, and the other possibilities for it are endless. Anyway, enough talk, you want to see some tutorial action. Well, here it is. Enjoy!

I always love scoping out what is being taught over at DeviantArt.com. There is a link in my side bar directly to the Photoshop tutorials at DevArt. You should also browse around there for stock art and inspirations. Anyway, I found this tutorial today. I wanted to share it with you all, since this is a great looking tutorial. It is well laid out and it has quite a few examples of what you can do with this simple technique right in it. So, check out the below link and try your hand at it. Cheers.

Colorful Fountain Tutorial

This is one of my favorite tutorials that I have done so far. Maybe my second favorite, next to the tutorial I'll be posting later. Anyway, this was a really big step for me, as there is a lot to this one and it comes together to make a great stand-alone image or for use in other documents. There are two parts to this. The first one shows you how to make individual fountains. The second part shows you how to combine them as I have done in the preview image here. Do just the first one or both, it's up to you. Enjoy.

New Site Banner

This is a post to show off links to two other tutorials that I did a while ago. They are both originally written by Bert Monroy. For anyone who doesn't know, Bert is a god in the Photoshop realm. He is an amazing artist and his books are great. I recomend picking at least one up if you have the extra cash. Anyway, back to the topic.

So, there are two tutorials here, both on how to make lighning. The first one deals with a strike, or bolt, of lightning. The second one is about making radial lightning, like you may see radiating from the staff of a powerful wizard, or something of that nature. So, here they are. Alright, so hello and welcome to n00b Friendly. I am your host, Matthew J. So, I bet you are all wondering to yourselves, "Hey, what is this blog all about?" Well, let me tell you. I started using Photoshop to edit photos and draw my webcomic about two years ago. Since then I have learned a lot and realized a few things about the world of PS. The biggest thing I have found is that you can't learn everything from books. You have to do two things to fully realize the potential of Photoshop.

1.) Mess around with different Photoshop features... a lot!

2.) Get help from other Photoshop users.

So, with this in mind, I give all of you "n00bs" to Photoshop a safe haven to ask questions and read some of my, and possibly other team members, tips, tricks, and tutorials. I know that it is hard to get help with Photoshop, what with all the elitists out there. This is a place where us "n00bs" can unite under one cause: learning how to use Photoshop better!
